New Ideas Looking Great for 2006
With the new school year beginning so quickly, OPRF J. Kyle Braid students are more than "pumped" to get this school year's activities started. Before the school year even began, our JKB students and sponsors held a get-together to discuss this year's ideas, plans, and future meetings.
Chris Ledbetter, the new sponsor for JKB at Oak Park, brought several great ideas to the table that should really get our school's program running. Because Mr. Ledbetter was the original sponsor for J. Kyle Braid several years ago, he knows exactly what has to get done, and how to do it. One of the ideas he has proposed is to hold a dinner for other JKB parents and people within the community. This will allow them to get to know what the JKB program is all about. The dinner will be held at a restaurant (still undecided) where we will charge a price per plate in order to fundraise for next year's trip to the ranch. The current JKB students will be dressed in tuxedoes and will serve as waiters and waitresses for the night. We are hoping to hold this event some time in November, before the holiday season begins. It should be a fun night that will get people excited about the JKB program in our community.
Other ideas that were brought up during the pre-school year session were frisbee/basketball tournaments, continuing mini-ranch days with our local junior high schools, and finding ways to help our school as a whole over the course of this school year. Our most recent members of the program are excited to get started and really looking forward to making a difference within our community. As for the veterans in the program, it is great for us to see our ideas put to work, and we have extremely high hopes for the 2006-2007 school year.

New JKB School Representative!
At the end of the 2005-2006 School year OPRF selected Chris Ledbetter (teacher/coach) to accompany Cindy Milojevic and John Stelzer in leading the J. Kyle Braid program here at the high school. Mr. Ledbetter is no stranger to the program, he indeed was the original sponsor for JKB at OPRF which began in 1999. The three of them look forward to improving the program and have high hopes for the 2006-2007 school year!
